A scheme of voluntary certification of excellent logistics service providers and facilities will be introduced with a view to consolidate and promote excellence in the logistics sector. Under the scheme, a certificate will be awarded to the logistics services providers that demonstrate high standards of operational efficiency, use of technology and safety in their operations. This will help certified entities to achieve higher acceptance.

National Logistics Awards in different categories will be instituted based on excellence framework. The ‘National Logistics Excellence Awards’ have been proposed by the Logistics Division as a part of the Integrated Logistics Action plan (ILAP) to provide a platform to recognize and promote innovation & best practices by user-industries and service providers, and develop leadership for the transformation of the logistics sector. 

Its key objectives are as follows:

1. Systematic transformation of the Indian logistics sector by bringing together a compendium of best practices in the field of logistics
2. Highlight initiatives, achievements of top performers and create a repository for dissemination of best practices, that can become benchmarks for the rest of the industry
3. Acknowledge the extraordinary measures organizations have taken to address the vulnerabilities exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic
