Numerous IT Solutions have been developed by government agencies and departments and a user needs to sign on each of these platforms independently to trace multi modal cargo moving on different ministries or undergoing any compliance or receiving any government facilitation.

The current IT solutions include Indian Customs EDI Gateway (ICEGATE) of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Port Community System (PCS) of the Indian Port Association under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Inland Waterways, Freight Operations Information System (FOIS) of the Indian Railways and VAHAN (National Vehicle Registration System) of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Others include the e-waybill system introduced by the GST Council, the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) and Kisan Rath by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, import export code (IEC) by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and various air cargo community systems.

The Logistics Division plans to create an integrated IT backbone to bring in efficiencies through uninterrupted interface and fill gap areas, if any, real-time monitoring of operational performance and asset utilization.
