WEIGHMENT

तोल

In India, weighment of laden trucks is regulated under the Central Motor Vehicle Act and the Rules (Sections 113 to 115 and Section 194 for penalties). However, these are not mandatory and complied with consigners or Truck Operators at privately owned and operated Static Weighbridges (Dharamkantas) or by persons “authorised by the state government” at RTO check posts at state borders on national and state highways (again on Static Weighbridges). These checks are largely discretionary leading to delays and still leave gaps in enforcement of standards.

The interventions to improve weighment systems. will include static weighing systems adoption of technology like use of cameras, sensors, Weigh in Motion (WIM), portable scales to optimize truck fleet management and routing with respect to their capacity and load limits.
